The Huntington Hosts Boston Lindy Hop for the “Back Bay Shuffle” – a one-of-a-kind Lindy Hop dance event in The Huntington’s 1925 Maso Studio ballroom, featuring a fun beginner lesson led by BLH instructors followed by social dancing to music spun by the best jazz DJs in town.
Get ready to swing out at the “Back Bay Shuffle.” For the first time ever, The Huntington teams up with Boston Lindy Hop to bring you a night of social swing dancing. Come stomp at the Maso Studio, The Huntington’s 1925 ballroom at 264 Huntington Ave. The night will kick off with a beginner lesson taught by BLH’s top-notch instructors – new and seasoned dancers are welcome to come and refresh their steps or learn something new (7:30-8:30pm). Then at 8:30pm, the dance floor will come alive for a social dance event that’s sure to knock your socks off. And best of all, we’ve got it all to keep you cool and cruisin’ all night long: tasty food and drink concessions, tons of cold water, powerful A/C blowing sweet relief, and an accessible entrance so everyone can join the jive. This is one shindig you don’t want to miss!

As a DJ, Yu Wen looks beyond songs that are simply danceable and wants to bring you music that gets in your soul and makes you want to dance. They got their start DJing for house parties in West Philadelphia and maintains this energy wherever she’s spinning her tunes (even if she is playing recordings over a hundred years old) — so let’s get this party started!

Andrew Selzer (he/him) began DJing in 2010, spinning tracks for weekly dances in the college town of State College, Pennsylvania. Now based in Boston, Massachusetts, he DJs, teaches swing dancing, and runs Boston Lindy Hop as the artistic director and owner.

Andrea Byrnes (she/her) began taking dance classes in primary school where she fell in love with Irish step dancing. She performed, competed, and taught Irish dancing for over two decades. She began studying Lindy Hop in Durham, North Carolina during graduate school. After moving to Boston in 2014, Andrea dove into Lindy Hop at New School Swing, and later at Boston Lindy Hop. Eventually, her swing dance curiosities led her to Charleston, Balboa, and Authentic Solo Jazz, St. Louis Shag, Collegiate Shag, and of course more Lindy Hop.

Jerry Wu (he/him) first got his start in Lindy Hop during an impromptu dance lesson at a Christmas party 13-years ago. Having gotten a taste of the dance, he started attending the local social-dance scene in Philadelphia, stepped on fellow BLH teacher Cari Meisel’s toes more than a few times, and joined Penn’s West Philly Swingers dance troupe.
