As The Huntington’s plans are evolving, we will continue to update this webpage with the most up-to-date information available.

We at The Huntington are excited about the return to live theatre and are eager to welcome you back through our doors!

We care deeply about the wellbeing and safety of our audiences, artists, and staff, and have been closely monitoring the evolving CDC guidance on COVID and its impact on our local community. For the safety and comfort of all who attend our shows, and as required by the city of Boston, we are implementing the following protocols until further notice:

All patrons, regardless of age*, must present proof of full vaccination for COVID-19 in order to enter the theatre.

  • Proof of vaccination can be easily provided by:
    • Showing your physical vaccination card or a photo of your card
    • Using Bindle, an easy-to-use, free app that keeps your information private, secure, and makes entry hassle-free. Instructions for how to set up this app on your phone can be found here:
  • We are no longer able to accept proof of a negative Covid-19 test in order to enter the theatre.
  • Well-fitted masks covering your mouth and nose must be worn at all times in all areas of the theatre.
  • If on the day of the performance you are experiencing any COVID symptoms, stay home and contact ticketing services for more information about exchanges or potential digital viewing options.
  • All tickets for Huntington productions at the Calderwood Pavilion come with digital insurance, and any ticketholders who would rather not see a performance in person for any reason can easily exchange their in-person tickets for a home viewing opportunity of a specially recorded version of the play.
  • We will continue to evaluate and update these policies as the situation evolves. For the most up-to-date information on our health and safety policies and season shows, please visit this page. If you have any questions, please email

*Children under the age of 12 may show proof of one dose of a COVID vaccine administered at least 14 days before the performance through February 15, 2022, after which full vaccination will be required for all eligible ages.

Thank you in advance for your help in keeping everyone safe at the theatre. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

What does "Full Vaccination" mean? Does that include Boosters?
"Full vaccination" is 14 days past completion of a primary series of COVID-19 vaccination (for most people, this is 1 dose of J&J, 2 doses of Moderna/Pfizer). We are not requiring audiences to have Boosters at this time, but we do encourage you to get Boosted if you are eligible.

Has The Huntington upgraded the Calderwood Pavilion’s air filtration system?
Yes, the Calderwood Pavilion HVAC system has been upgraded with MERV-13 filters and our air changes per hour exceed standards for performance spaces.

Will concessions be available at the theatre?
We will not be offering concessions at performances for the time being and apologize for the inconvenience.

Will printed programs be available?
Yes, there will be printed programs available for patrons, as well as a digital program that can be easily accessed on our website.

Will the performers wear masks on stage?
The actors will not wear masks while on stage during the performance but they will be a minimum of 6-feet from audiences. Otherwise, masks are required of everyone at all times throughout the building.

What is the easiest way to show proof of vaccination for entry into the Calderwood Pavilion?
Patrons can show their vaccination card, a photo of their card, or can show a digital vaccine record.

The Huntington is partnering with Bindle, a digital app that securely stores health information allowing you to privately share your COVID vaccination status. Instructions for how to set up this app on your phone can be found here:

What happens if a patron comes to the theatre but doesn’t have proof of full vaccination?
Patrons who are not able to show proof of full vaccination at the door will not be permitted to enter the Calderwood Pavilion. They can exchange their tickets into a future performance when they are able to show proof of vaccination or into access to the digital recording of the performance when available.

Do these policies apply to student groups and K-12 student matinees?
Yes, these policies apply to student groups and student matinees. For more information regarding student groups for grades K-12, please contact Director of Education Meg O’Brien at

I have tickets to What The Constitution Means to Me at the Emerson Cutler Majestic Theatre. Do these policies still apply to me?
Yes! Specific COVID-19 related policies for this production will be communicated clearly to ticket holders in advance of their performance, but proof of full vaccination and masks will continue to be required.

Are you only accepting proof of certain COVID vaccines?
We will accept proof of FDA or WHO approved COVID vaccines. This includes but is not limited to Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, and AstraZeneca.
