Michael Ellis Ingram

Michael Ellis Ingram is Chief Conductor of the Staatsoperette Dresden, where he conducts and composes opera, operetta, ballet, and musical theater. Guest engagements have led him to Des Moines Metro Opera, The Glimmerglass Festival, and the opera houses of Boston, Portland, New Orleans, and Kansas City. Michael has collaborated with composers such as Rhiannon Giddens and Dominik Argento, and he has taught conducting in Leipzig, Dresden, Hamburg, and Salzburg.

His recent composition commissions include the opera JUBILEE with librettist Tazewell Thompson (Seattle Opera), the musical The 35th of May (Theater Bremen), and the ballet Ich, Eurydike (Staatsoperette Dresden). Michael has published poetry and prose, lectured on literature, film, and theology, and moderated for NPR. In his free time, he enjoys folding origami in a windowsill.
