EPIC: Empowered Performers in Conversation

Not Waiting on the World to change staged reaging

EPIC: Youth

(Formerly known as the "Not Waiting on the World to Change" program.)

The Education Staff at the Huntington Theatre Company acknowledges the necessity of supporting student artists who are bold advocates for social justice.

EPIC is an after school program which provides the opportunity for student playwrights, actors, directors, and theatre enthusiasts to tackle issues of most importance to them. Through deliberate research and debate, writing exercises, ensemble building and acting training, students are mentored, by members of the Education Staff, through the process of creating an original piece of theatre which addresses a current challenge affecting young people. The program's final production will be performed at the Huntington and throughout the local community for family, friends and neighbors.

Interested high school students will be asked to complete the application process before entering the program. Class size will not exceed ten students and will draw from communities throughout the greater Boston area.

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Boston Cultural Council, a local agency which is funded by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, administered by the Mayor's Office of Arts and Culture.
