TEMPLE GILL NAMED HUNTINGTON THEATRE COMPANY’S DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS & STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS; NATIONAL SEARCH FOR DIRECTOR OF MARKETING UNDERWAY

(BOSTON) – Michael Maso, Managing Director of the Huntington Theatre Company (Peter DuBois, Artistic Director; Michael Maso, Managing Director), has announced Temple Gill’s recent appointment to the newly-created post of Director of Public Affairs & Strategic Partnerships, effective June 4. Gill is currently the company’s Director of Marketing, a post she has held since 2006. She assumes this new role at a time of exciting growth and transition for the company, and in doing so, will become the company’s chief steward of press/media relations, government affairs, and community engagement.

The Huntington has long been an anchor cultural institution of Huntington Avenue, the Avenue of the Arts, and will remain so on a permanent basis. Under the terms of an agreement with the City of Boston and real estate developer QMG Huntington, the Huntington recently assumed sole ownership of the 890-seat Huntington Avenue Theatre. It is in the nucleus phase of a major comprehensive fundraising campaign designed to refurbish and expand the Huntington Avenue Theatre into a fully-updated, modern venue and to expand the company’s services to audiences, artists, and the community. The Huntington previously built the multiple-venue Stanford Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts in 2004 and operates it as a home for its new works activities and as a much-needed resource for other arts organizations serving the local cultural community.

In a message to Huntington staff, Maso stated, “Temple will be central to the creation of new, broad relationships with the partners necessary to our expanding vision of our services to Boston. I can think of no better person to represent us in our quest to help us create ‘Boston’s Living Room’ in a way that makes us an even more invaluable member of Boston’s cultural scene.”

Gill will assume her new post on June 4. Arts marketing consultant and recruiter Tom O’Connor has commenced a national search on the Huntington’s behalf to identity the next Director of Marketing, a peer position to this newly-created role.
