Huntington Theatre Company names Arts Fundraiser and Marketer David Dalena as Senior Director of External Relations.

(BOSTON) — Huntington Theatre Company annoucnes that veteran arts fundraiser and marketer David Dalena has been appointed Senior Director of External Relations, a newly created position. Mr. Dalena will oversee the creative and strategic framework for all revenue operations including fundraising, marketing, and communications.

Mr. Dalena brings more than 25 years of experience in performing arts administration. He arrives from the Celebrity Series of Boston, Inc., where his duties from 1999-2011 including fundraising, marketing, communications, and board relations. From 1992-1999, he served at The Bushnell Memorial Hall in Hartford, CT, where he implemented award-winning marketing communications programs that helped to bring the Hall national prominence in the performing arts and touring Broadway industry. He held prior positions as an account executive with the C.F. Thompson Group Marketing Communications Inc. and in corporate communications with CIGNA Corporation. Mr. Dalena has served as a performing arts marketing and administration consultant for the Cambridge-nased WolfBrown (formerly Wolf, Keens, and Company). Prior to his marketing and arts administration career, he worked as a professional singer and actor.

Mr. Dalena served on the committee of the 2009 National Arts Marketing Project Conference held in Providence, Rhode island. He is a past president of the Boston Arts Marketing Alliance (BAMA) and is a member of the Association of Performing Arts Presenters (APAP), having served APAP's 2006 and 2007 national conference committees. He is also a guest lecturer in arts marketing for graduate programs at Boston University and formerly at Emerson College. From 2001-2004, Mr. Dalena was the Boston coordinator for the Performing Arts Research Coalition (PARC), a national effort to standardize audience research practices in the performing arts sector, funded by the Pew Charitable Trusts. He has also served on the marketing advisory committee for the Greater Boston Convention and Visitors Bureau (GBCVB) and the membership services advisory board of ArtsBoston, and is a former board member of Boston Area Cabaret Artists (BACA), the Woodland Concert Series (Hartford, Conn.) and the Connecticut Lodging and Attractions Association. He is a former member of Actors' Equity Association (AEA). He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in music education with a concentration in voice and choral conducting from the Hartt School of Music of the University of Hartford. Mr. Dalena is a 9-year volunteer "Big Brother" for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay. He is a resident of West Roxbury, Massachusetts.
