Along with a great beard and thick rimmed glasses, Jeffrey Hatcher has adapted John Kennedy Toole’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, A Confederacy of Dunces, for the stage. Mr. Hatcher understands the small details of the book, including the background of old New Orleans, the music, and the Southern dialogue and terminology that is needed to bring this book to life. At the Huntington’s Boston Globe Event Night, Jeffrey Hatcher spoke to Globe Arts Reporter Malcolm Gay about the design and written elements that helped take this novel from the bookshelf to the stage.

And if you want more, come see A Confederacy of Dunces now through December 20 at the Huntington Theatre Company.
