Choice - Make a Day of It!

by:  Sabrina Katz at 10/09/2015

The South End is both beautiful and historic, and a trip to the Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA is the perfect excuse to explore it some more. Choice, the second show in the Huntington’s season, is located right in the hub of the neighborhood and is surrounded by heaps of hip restaurants. So, if you’re going to see the show and you can carve out a couple extra hours to explore, here are a couple ideas for your South End excursion:

  1. If you’re going to a Sunday afternoon performance in October (either the 18th or 26th), you’re in luck! The SoWa Market is a fun place to spend an hour speaking to farmers and artisans from the Boston area. You can also grab a bite to eat at one of several food trucks at the market. Whether you just want to walk around, or if you’re interested in a homemade PB&J ice cream sandwich (thank you, Cookie Monstah!), there’s something for everyone. The market opens at 10am, which is more than enough time to look around and try some of their delicious food before the 2pm show!

    SoWa Open Market
Every Sunday through October 25, 2015
    10am – 4pm
    500 Harrison Ave, Boston

  2. If you’re seeing an evening performance, taking a walk along Tremont Street is a relaxing way to wind down the day! For those taking the T, get off at the orange line (Mass Ave stop), or the green line (Symphony stop) and take a 15-minute walk to the Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA. The old brownstones and falling leaves are picturesque for an autumn evening. Once you arrive on Tremont Street, you have plenty of restaurants to choose from – anything from a quick bite of pizza to a long sit-down meal. When you’re finished eating, check out some of the boutique stores on the street, or take photos of the sun setting on the city. Before the show starts, stop at the Five Seventy Market and ask for a Reese’s cookie, which is the size of your face and filled with chunks of Reese’s peanut butter cup. Yum!

When you come see the show, don’t forget to make some time to walk around the historic South End! The beautiful architecture, amazing restaurants, and the Huntington’s hilarious production of Choice will give you the perfect excuse to keep coming back.
