Allen Lee Hughes

Allen Lee Hughes previously designed lighting for Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (2014) and Les Blancs (1989) at the Huntington. Broadway credits include K2 (Tony Award nomination, Outer Critics Circle Award, and the Joseph Maharam Award), Having Our Say, Mule Bone, Once on this Island (Tony Award nomination), Strange Interlude, Accidental Death of an Anarchist, and Quilters. New York credits include productions at Roundabout Theatre Company, New York Theatre Workshop, Playwrights Horizons, New York Shakespeare Festival, and Lincoln Center Theater. He has worked at regional theatres across the country including McCarter Theatre Center, Seattle Repertory Theatre, Long Wharf Theatre, Goodman Theatre, Guthrie Theater, Hartford Stage, Mark Taper Forum, Intiman Theatre, The Kennedy Center, Denver Center Theatre Company, and Alliance Theatre. Boston credits include Don Carlos, Aida, and La Traviata (Boston Lyric Opera), Contra Pose (Boston Ballet), A Soldier’s Play (Colonial Theatre), and Tomfoolery (Charles Playhouse). He is the recipient of the 2003 USITT Distinguished Achievement Award in Lighting Design, the 1997 Merritt Award for Excellence in Design and Collaboration, and two Helen Hayes Awards, along with eight nominations.
