MJ Halberstadt

MJ Halberstadt is a 2017-2019 playwriting fellow at the Huntington Theatre Company. Mr. Halberstadt’s work seeks humor within social commentary in relation to LGBTQ stories and privilege. He is a recipient of the Elliot Norton Award for Outstanding New Script for The Launch Prize and a commissioned playwright at SpeakEasy Stage Company. His work has been produced by the Arctic Group, Bridge Repertory Theater, Fresh Ink Theater, Museum of Fine Arts Boston, Pingree School, and others. Acknowledgements and support from Assets 4 Artists, Boston University’s Creative Writing Global Fellowship, Company One Theatre’s PlayLab, Flat Earth Theatre, Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival, Last Frontier Theatre Conference, Museum of Science Boston, and New Opera and Musical Theater Initiative. He is a Playmaker Emeritus of Bridge Repertory Theater, alumnus of Emerson College (BA) and Boston University (MFA), and a member of the Dramatists Guild of America, Inc. Mr. Halberstadt is an adjunct screenwrighting professor at Emerson College.
