
LOY ARCENAS (Set Design) designed the American premieres of
Love! Valour! Compassion!, Corpus Christi, Prelude to a Kiss, Once On This Island, Spunk, Blue Window, The Invention of Love (American Conservatory Theater),
Indian Ink, Simpatico, and
A Man of No Importance, as well as Broadway revivals of
The Glass Menagerie and
The Night of the Iguana. He also designed the Off Broadway productions of
Spic-O-Rama and
The Vagina Monologues. Recent credits include David Ives'
Polish Joke (Manhattan Theatre Club), Paula Vogel's
The Long Christmas Ride Home (Trinity Repertory Company), Guettel/Lucas'
The Light in the Piazza (Intiman Theatre), and
Dessa Rose (Lincoln Center Theater). His New York City directing credits include Lonnie Carter's
The Romance of Magno Rubio, which received 8 OBIE citations this past season and which he remounted in Los Angeles, Chicago, and Manila last season, and again for the Long Wharf Theatre this season; Han Ong's
Middle Finger; and Ralph Pena's
Flipzoids. Mr. Arcenas is the recipient of the OBIE Award for Sustained Excellence of Set Design, Drama Desk nominations, the L.A. Drama Critics Circle Award, the Jeff Award, and Bay Area Critics Circle Awards. He is from the Philippines.
