
CONSTANZA ROMERO (Costume Designer) previously designed
Seven Guitars for the Huntington. Her Broadway credits include August Wilson’s
The Piano Lesson and
Seven Guitars. At the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, where she has worked frequently, she designed costumes for
Topdog/Underdog,
Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?,
The Trip to Bountiful,
Richard II, and
The Comedy of Errors. Other theatre credits include August Wilson’s
Gem of the Ocean (Goodman Theatre, Chicago; and Mark Taper Forum, Los Angeles); as well as productions at A Contemporary Theatre, The Acting Company, Ahmanson Theater, Center Theater Group, Crossroads Theatre Company, Huntington Theatre Company, Indiana Repertory Theatre, Intiman Theatre, Milwaukee Repertory Theater, New Mexico Repertory Theatre, Seattle Repertory Theatre, Shakespeare Santa Cruz, and Yale Repertory Theatre. Ms. Romero received the 2003 Ovation Award (Los Angeles) for Best Costume Design for
Gem of the Ocean and has taught costume design at the University of Washington and scenic design at the University of California, Santa Cruz. She holds an MFA from the Yale School of Drama. Ms. Romero lives in Seattle with her husband, August Wilson, and her 7 year-old daughter, Azula. She would like to thank Azula for all her patience while her mom works on her dad’s new play.
