Professional Internship Program
Huntington Theatre Company Professional Internships
The Professional Internship program allows college graduates to bridge the gap between their educational experiences and professional careers in regional theatre. We seek creative, reliable, committed individuals with previous theatre training and relevant skills.
Professional Internships are available only as full-time season commitments, from September to June. (See below for information about shorter-term internships.)
Internships are available in the following areas:
- Artistic (Casting & Literary Management)
- General Management
- Marketing/ Public Relations
- Development
- Education
- Costumes
- Electrics
- Sound
- Scenery
- Properties
- Paints
- Production Management
Responsibilities:
Interns will participate as staff members within assigned departments on various projects. For example, Scenery interns may work on budgeting and purchasing, as well as set construction and load-in. Artistic/Literary interns may assist with local casting calls, read and evaluate scripts, and write articles for Huntington publications. There will be some administrative work too (such as copying and filing) — we all have to do that — but interns will be integral parts of each department.
Benefits:
You will be provided hands-on, applicable experience. You will be a full member of the team, included in department and full staff meetings. You will work with and be assigned duties and projects from experienced Huntington Theatre Company staff members.
Members of the Professional Internship Program will participate in Intern Workshops with theatre staff, guest artists, and other members of the professional arts community. This is an opportunity to connect with each other and outside theatre professionals, and expand your understanding of other departments, their functions, and their roles in the institution.
Each intern will receive complimentary tickets to all Huntington Theatre Company productions.

The current professional interns take break after the first rehearsal of All My Sons.
Compensation:
A weekly stipend is provided, but it may not be enough to fully cover living expenses. Housing is not provided. Interns have the opportunity, if schedule permits, to be hired by other departments, such as Front of House and Box Office, to supplement their stipend. Applicants should carefully consider their financial needs.
