The Huntington Theatre Company was originally founded in June 1982 as a professional theatre in residence at Boston University. In 1986‚ the Huntington established itself as an independent‚ not–for–profit professional theatre company‚ while still maintaining its strong ties to Boston University.
Boston University provides both cash subsidy and in–kind facility support to the Huntington. In return the Huntington provides educational enhancement‚ training‚ and internship opportunities to students in the BU School of Theatre Arts‚ as well as stage opportunities for the BU acting students.
When the Huntington is not performing at the Boston University Theatre‚ student productions are staged. Subscribers to the Huntington receive discounted tickets to BU student productions. Tickets can be obtained by calling the Box Office at 617 266–0800 or visiting BostonTheatreScene.com.
