Riccardo Hernandez

Riccardo Hernandez has designed for the Huntington on A Confederacy of DuncesHe's  designed for Broadway in The Gin Game; The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess; The People in the Picture; Caroline, or Change (also Royal National Theatre, London); Elaine Stritch at Liberty (also National Tour, The Old Vic Theatre, London); Topdog/Underdog (Royal Court Theatre); Bells Are Ringing; Parade (dir. Hal Prince, Tony and Drama Desk Award nominations); Bring in ‘Da Noise, Bring in ‘Da Funk (also national tour, Japan); and The Tempest. His recent credits include Grounded directed by Julie Taymor and The Library directed by Steven Soderbergh (The Public Theater/NYSF), La Mouette (Cour D’Honneur, Palais des Papes – Avignon Festival), Abigail’s Party (Oslo National Theatre, Norway), The Dead (Abbey Theatre, Dublin), and King Lear (Theatre for a New Audience). He has designed over 200 productions in the US and internationally at The Public Theater/NYSF, Brooklyn Academy of Music, American Repertory Theater, Lincoln Center Theater, New York Theatre Workshop, Goodman Theatre, Guthrie Theater, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Houston Grand Opera, San Francisco Opera, New York City Opera, Los Angeles Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Canadian Opera Company, Theatre du Chatelet Paris, Theater an der Wien (Vienna), Teatro Real Madrid, English National Opera/Young Vic, and many others. His designs can be seen in the upcoming Bitter Tears of Petra Von Kant (Ljubljana/Slovenia), Genet’s Splendid’s (La Colline – Theatre National Paris), Othello (Shakespeare Theatre Company, Washington, DC), and Don Giovanni (Santa Fe Opera). Mr. Hernandez works at SUNY Purchase and is a lecturer at Princeton University.
