Ralph Funicello has Huntington credits that include The Seagull, Third, The Cherry Orchard, and Mary Stuart. On Broadway he designed the sets for Julius Caesar, Brooklyn Boy, Henry IV (Outer Critics Circle, Drama Desk, and Tony Award nominations), King Lear, QED, and Division Street. His Off Broadway productions include Saturn Returns, Ten Unknowns, and Pride’s Crossing. In addition, he has been an associate artist at San Diego’s The Old Globe and designed more than 300 plays at numerous theatres including American Conservatory Theater, Manhattan Theatre Club, Lincoln Center Theater, Mark Taper Forum, South Coast Repertory, Seattle Repertory Theatre, A Contemporary Theatre, Shakespeare Theatre Company, New York City Opera, Stratford Festival of Canada, Guthrie Theater, and Royal Shakespeare Company. He has received The Michael Merritt Award for Excellence in Design and Collaboration, three Bay Area Theatre Critics’ Circle Award, and five LA Drama Critics Circle Award. He currently holds the position of Powell Chair in Set Design at San Diego State University.
