Anita Gillette

Anita Gillette appeared at the Huntington as Irene Reilly in A Confederacy of Dunces and has over a dozen Broadway credits including leading roles in Carnival, All American, Kelly, Mr. President, Cabaret, Don’t Drink the Water, Jimmy, Chapter Two (Tony Award nomination for Best Lead Actress in a Play), Brighton Beach Memoirs, and They’re Playing Our Song. Her Off Broadway and regional credits include Knickerbocker Holiday and The Great Waltz (LA Civic Light Opera); The Seagull, The Skin of Our Teeth, and The Big Meal (Playwrights Horizons); Rich and Famous (The Public Theater/NYSF); Travesties and The Importance of Being Earnest (Mark Taper Forum); and Juno, Shirley Valentine, Suddenly Last Summer, Sweet Bird of Youth, Bus Stop, and countless others. Her film credits include Moonstruck, Shall We Dance, A Fitzgerald Family Christmas, The Guru, Bob Roberts, She’s the One, Boys on the Side, Marathon, A Christmas Memory, and Summer of Ben Tyler. Ms. Gillette’s television credits include “30 Rock,” “Quincy,” “Elementary,” “Modern Family,” “Blue Bloods,” “CSI,” “Law & Order,” “The Ed Sullivan Show,” “Bell Telephone Hour,” “Normal Ohio,” “Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice,” “Me and the Chimp,” and 50 episodes of “The Johnny Carson Show,” to name a few. She has also worked with director David Esbjornson in The Oldest Profession and recently won both a MCC Award and a Bistro Award for her cabaret show After All.
