Giselle Ty

Giselle Ty first appeared with Company One as Sayoko in After The Quake and is an active member of the company’s programming committee. She recently appeared on stage as Iras / Octavia with the Actors’ Shakespeare Project as Iras/Octavia and as one of twenty Nibelungen (gold-mining dwarf-slaves) in the Metropolitan Opera's production of Das Rheingold. As stage director, she works both in theatre and opera. Last season, she directed La Calisto (Harvard Early Music Society), Carmen (NEMPAC), the east coast premiere of Michael Ching's a capella A Midsummer Night's Dream (Opera Hub), and the world premiere of Ketty Neza's The Fiddler and the Old Woman of Rumelia (Juventas New Music Ensemble). In theatre, she has directed for the Boston Theater Marathon, Exquisite Corps Theatre, and the Boston One-Minute Play Festival, and will direct for the Harvard Playwrights' Festival this spring. She has been on the directing staff for productions with Opera Boston, Gotham Chamber Opera, the American Repertory Theatre, and the ART / MXAT Institute for Advanced Theatre Training. She is a graduate of Northwestern University's School of Music.
